Tennessee Does Textiles: Borders & Boundaries

Does Textiles is a unique wearable art style show and sale. You will be
treated to a Venetian dessert display, finger sandwiches, beverages and
wine before heading into Athens Arts Center’s Black Box Theater.
Be prepared to be amazed by garments handmade by some of the best fiber artists in the Southeastern United Sates.
These
unique and beautiful garments will be displayed on "the catwalk" by
professional models. There will be handwoven jackets, scarves from
funky to formal, jewelry, hats, bags, belts, handspun alpaca wraps,
dyed silks, painted and recycled shirts and jackets. Something for
every taste and every occasion.

This is a unique opportunity to visit the private work spaces where some of our community's finest art and craft is made.
There is no charge for the tour. However, artists will have items for sale at their studios...great early holiday shopping! Brochures & Maps to the other studios on the tour will be available at Lizz Harris' studio.
Lizz wears many hats in the local arts community. A life-long student of art, she has explored a variety of media and techniques. Recent study of ancient and modern fiber treatment has led to exploration of surface design and simple garment construction in natural fabrics. Lizz will be demonstrating some interesting techniques during the Tour. Paintings and Art Wear will be on display.
